3D printing

We talked about this very briefly in class so when I came across this article, I knew I had to post it. It's a 3D printing photo booth! Imagine, you step into a photo booth, make your silly faces, and out comes a tiny replica of yourself. IT DOESN'T GET MUCH COOLER THAN THAT!!!!

I love infographics and it's weird. But pretty pictures to explain things is just genius. I found this infographic and thought it was especially interesting.

My favorite: Peak time for watching TV on the computer is during the workday.

product design

Our product repackaging project really made me pay attention to product design. I really enjoy searching the shelves of the supermarket and noting designs that I like. This article also highlights some creative packaging designs. I totally think our class's projects should be up here!

Doesn't good design just make you happy?

inspiration

One thing that always inspires me is success. And it doesn't have to be mine. Bonus points if it's success that beats the odds. This article on 5 billionaire entrepreneurs really had my inspiration juices flowing. If I can't be one of these people already, I'm certainly inspired to try!

best typefaces of all time

I found my way to this 100 best type faces of all time list and was happy to see Helvetica was number 1. I constantly find my way back to Helvetica after trying all 894 other fonts. It's just so clean and simple. What are your favorites?

!@#$%^ homophones!!

I know I've linked to this blog before but I saw this post and thought if it wasn't something we've already discussed in class, we should! I think we have all fallen prey to these little buggers at some point or another. You know, those words that sound the same but are spelled differently and have totally different meanings. Too, two, to. Their, there, they're.  I know I've said this before. I LOVE that this blog finds errors in professional publications. There is just something that makes you feel so good about yourself when you see other people's mishaps. This probably makes me a bad person.

Inspiration

I struggled with whether or not to post this as my inspiration. It's "trendy" and kind of silly even, but I really don't think anything inspires me like pinterest does. Honestly, what else can you say makes you want to cook up a ridiculous meal, re-design your house, make all DIY gifts for birthdays and holidays, be a better designer, look prettier, etc? Right. Nothing. Pinterest loves to give me ideas to be a better person and even though most of the time I might just look at the ideas and then do nothing about them, they are still inspiring. So I'm doing it. I'm declaring it for the world to hear. Pinterest inspires me. Eek!
