All of this concept talk has me thinking of some unforgettable ad campaigns. The one that comes to mind as one I thoroughly enjoyed was the "I'm a mac, I'm a PC" campaign. I miss those! Now, when I try to dissect it, I guess the concept is comparing the brands? It was executed so well though. I'm obviously a mac, so I felt a special connection with the young Justin Long, representing the cool, young Mac population. I wonder why they stopped those. They were definitely successful. My roommate and I may or may not have spent hours on the apple site watching all of the videos. If that's not a successful ad campaign, I don't know what is! Who knew comparing could be so enthralling!
Here's a little throwback:

I used to love these ads, too. I hadn't seen this particular one--thanks for sharing it. If I had to guess, I think the concept for these ads would be coolness--the Mac guy is young and hip (jeans, casual attire), and the PC guy is older and stuffy (suit).
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I mentioned this campaign on my blog too! It was great, wasn't it?
