How to...

The second we found out about this project, I knew it was going to be a tough one for me. There is something about writing a how-to booklet that just seems so hard. I thought it was pretty fitting, though, because as I was thinking of ideas, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days came on TV. Andie is the resident "how-to" girl! Perfect! I'll steal her ideas! Except, I can't teach you to love your legs and I don't think my fiancee would approve of a "how to lose your guy in 10 days" booklet. So I thought, what do I do well? Duh. Clean and organize.

When I presented my ideas to the class, I really hated them all. I thought they would be impossible to execute visually. I've had more time to think about it now though, and I have some ideas that I like. And let's be honest, I love having things to organize. I should share my enthusiasm with the world (or just our class)!

I started writing my rough draft and realized, though, that what I'm writing is how I organize my closet. Which isn't necessarily how you organize yours. I'm writing a subjective how-to. But then, isn't everything a subjective how-to? There is usually more than one way to do most things, so whatever instruction manual or how-to guide you are reading is just how that particular author would do the task at hand. I'm sure on some level I realized this, but I never thought about it enough to care. Usually, I want to know how to do something and I do the first option that makes sense. There can be more than one right option, though! Except for how to organize your closet, only my option is right.
